While BHCW has focused much of its attention on issues connected to political signs and free speech with the new land use ordinance, we must be aware that this is an impactful 200+ page document that includes multiple changes on a variety of items that’s worked its way through a lame-duck session.

Government – good government – has a responsibility to engage residents and provide every opportunity for scrutiny of new ordinances. Especially ordinances that are massive and can potentially impact residents’ day-to-day lives. No crisis exists that this ordinance would address.

The clip below includes comments from a resident urging the council to pause moving forward on this specific ordinance – ultimately, the council passed it during the 12/05/2023 session.
