What’s Important to Know About Berkley Heights This Week….

This week, residents learned of  a controversial and inaccurate email from Ms. Bradford that invoked volunteer organizations and spun Ms. Khanna’s ability to hold a job as a negative in her attempt to convince people to write to the County Superintendent to support Angela Penna.

BHCW discovered Dr. Varley received a raise w in 2023 – the same year she proposed staffing cuts.  While we received some answers in connection to Board Approval, there are still serious questions how the increase was introduced and approved prior to completion of the her Evaluation.

We also learned that BOE Members supporting the disingenuous “pay the teachers” campaign voted for a resolution during the Re-Org Meeting that would have worked to hide this raise. Speaking of “pay the teachers!” we apply facts to the weekend-long charade and explore what occurred during the re-org meeting further.

Walter Luers joined us on NightWatch to accept an award and discussed OPRA and OPMA.  An educator in the community gave residents a clue as to who might be our next Superintendent. We present the top ten videos of 2023 from our YouTube Channel.

As always, we wrap up with important news around the State and our Notes of the Week.
