Executive Session and Committee Meeting Minutes and Notes for October 2023

Notes:

  • Policy Committee:  Policy 164 was ostensibly revised to avoid surprises for board members. Guess what has been happening in the 2 meetings so far, and it has nothing to do with board members bringing surprises to the meeting.
  • Only the Personnel Committee seems to have spent an extended period of time interviewing the Director of STEAM …maybe. It looks like there were six candidates and that Personnel committee saw the resumes.  However the minutes also make it appear as if  Dr. Varley did the interviewing, as the minutes indicated that she introduced the candidate.
  • Finance Committee was informed about the responses from the attorney firms but it is unclear when the Board authorized the BA to issue an RFP. Committees cannot make decisions, only recommendations that need to go back to the full Board for approval.
