Berkeley Heights BOE Committee Meeting Minutes for December 2023 and Team Notes

Questions and Comments on Finance and Facilities & Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes from the Team:

Finance and Facilities:

Why wasn’t the transportation report in the agenda on Jan 18th and why if it was to be ready for Jan 18th, is the public not able to see it?

Hazardous routes- is the analysis being done in conjunction with the BHPD? Was courtesy bussing info provided to the consultants before they completed the analysis? Is there a risk that the analysis was influenced by the existing courtesy bussing data?

——————————–

Transportation consultants presented in early December yet the public presentation is yet to happen.

With the Budget process here we are still unaware of the district’s direction on busing. Are they going to continue with courtesy busing with no clear explanation as to why this service exists and with unknown parameters as to which families get the service for free and which families have to pay?  Last year, Dr. Foregger had suggested sending out a survey to assess how many students would sign up for subscription busing if courtesy busing was to be discontinued. Did that simple yet effective idea get relegated to the heap of suggestions tossed aside by the district administration?  I guess we’ll find out when the tentative budget is unveiled in March.

Curriculum

Did the District share the [Architectural Design]Course Proposal form with the Board and Public? When is this class going to be offered?
