Legal Spending and Searchable Attachments for 02/26/2024 Berkeley Heights BOE Meeting

BOE Agendas and Meeting Summaries

The Current Board Set to Vote On Huge Legal Tab from Prior Board

Our community continues to pay for the consequences of the prior Board’s decisions. This month’s legal bills total $28,320, of which the “legal firm” (lol) of Cleary, Giacobbe, Alfieri, and Jacobs will receive $23,727.

We have spent about $2,000 more compared to Feb and Jan of 2023, with the 2024 CY YTD coming to $39,586.

We should not be surprised that such a huge bill is nestled into a heavy agenda – it’s been the practice to hide big bills in stacked meetings.

Dr. Foregger, Ms. Khanna, Ms. Akiri, and Ms. Joly can take a stand on this issue by voting “no” until safeguards are put into place for future legal spending while also insisting on a mechanism that  informs the public as to the reasons for the expenditures.  Professional services is on the agenda for new business so this is where we might see a move to force our current firm out.

We’ll be publishing more on the Agenda throughout the day.
