Parent Expresses Concerns About BHPSNJ Superintendent’s Social Media Post

BHPSNJ AdministrationCommunity Voices

The following is an email provided to BHCW from Berkeley Heights Resident and Parent Ekin Najarian to Dr. Varley and the Berkeley Heights Board of Education.

Dr. Varley / Whitfield:

Just as your approval for your extended leave before your resignation was approved, you posted a unique image and caption on your Facebook page which was shared with me.  I have shared the screenshot below, from last week, so everyone can see what you find to be entertaining.

I’m glad your time here has been a joke to you, as you can walk away from the destruction YOU have had a hand in orchestrating. This is such a classless, insensitive, disgraceful, and unprofessional post.

To the entire Board in copy;

I respectfully ask each of you to please reflect upon why you have supported someone who thinks this is even remotely appropriate, let alone funny or admirable?

I cannot help but to feel this might be a reflection where you will now understand, but this ‘admission’ that she never cared about us as a community, as a district but only about herself and the hundreds of thousands of dollars you approved to pay her.

So, BOE Members, it’s time to pull the blinders off, be detailed and diligent in your search for a new Superintendent and find some who IS a class act not someone who tries to act like one.

The parent received an out of office reply from Dr. Varley’s email account explaining that she would be out of the office until 03/08/2024. Dr. Varley’s Paid Leave starts on 03/18/2024 and ends near the date of her last day as BHPSNJ Superintendent.
