What’s Important to Know About Our Local & State Government This Week….

The newsletter begins with articles expressing questions and concerns surrounding the Townships’ attempt to get public buy-in on their attempt to secure control over school property. This is followed up by two responses we received from the BOE vice president and a BOE representative that provide some insight on the issue.

An educator in our community responds to questions about their recent article about staggered school start times.

Our Community Voices section features resident concerns related to the Townships’ struggle with power outages, a perspective on the Prism Club vote, and a response from the Recreation Chair to the BOE vice-president on CMS.

The State Round-up finds us in the middle of another wave of dark money politics from the Teachers Union, the NJ Budget Bomb, an analysis of TANF, and some sticker shock for NJ Transit riders.

As always, we end with our notes for the week by asking some tough questions on significant policy decisions (CFO and CMS field) from the Town Council that often get approved following marketing rhetoric rather than any meaningful debate.
