7-District Dashboard Performance on the ACT

Millburn Leads ACT Scores Across All Categories, Berkeley Heights Fares Better

After a Berkeley Heights Board of Education (BHBOE) on March 18th where SAT scores were presented (video linked here), we decided to look into the other main postsecondary admissions test: The ACT. The findings were that Governor Livingston High School (GLHS) students fared better on the ACT versus the SAT when comparing the seven-district dashboard. While GLHS students fared last of the seven districts in both SAT math and SAT reading/writing (link Article #2 once published), GLHS students either tied or outperformed Chatham, Madison, Westfield, and New Providence students in all four components of the ACT.
Note that versus the two components of the SAT, the ACT consists of four multiple-choice sections: Reading, English (focuses on writing skills), math, and science.

Summary: All seven districts here perform at least one point above the state average ACT score. While Millburn and Summit students are consistent in placing first and second, respectively, on this seven-district dashboard, GLHS ties for third place in English, Math, and Science, while tied for second place in Reading.
This data may suggest that the educational experiences at GLHS are more suited towards students taking the ACT over the SAT.
The real question is, why weren’t these ACT numbers, comparable to Chatham, Westfield, Madison, and New Providence, shared at the Berkeley Heights Board of Education meeting to show how great GLHS students have been performing on the ACT?
