No Video Exists of Pivotal Berkeley Heights Council Meeting

Berkeley Heights Town Council

The township confirmed today that there is no video recording of the most recent Town Council meeting, citing “technical difficulties.”

The meeting—held at 6:00 p.m., earlier than usual—had one of the most important and packed agendas of the year thus far. It included a vote to send the possible sale of the sewage plant to referendum, adoption of the budget, and $3.8 million in new spending.

With no video, there’s no way for the public to hear what was said—by officials or by residents who came to speak. The only remaining record will be the official meeting minutes (once they’re posted), coverage from township media outlets (if any attended), or NJ21st’s own summary once we have access to the minutes- which will only become available after the Town Council approves them.

None of our team members were able to attend in person or view through zoom.

As of today, the video from the April 17 Town Council meeting still hasn’t been posted to the township’s YouTube channel either.

Meanwhile, the township’s Facebook page does have at least three videos about ducks.
