Union County, NJ – Assemblywomen Nancy Muñoz and Michele Matsikoudis today responded to Andrew Macurdy’s support of A4704, a corporate transit fee that targeted businesses and drove up costs for families.
“Andrew Macurdy doesn’t understand what’s best for our district, one of the strongest districts in New Jersey for high-impact job creators,” said Assemblywoman Nancy Muñoz. “His approach is the same reckless rubber-stamp we’ve seen from the Majority in Trenton: just add more fees and taxes without thinking about the consequences. This bill penalizes successful companies, raises utility costs, and threatens jobs. Our constituents need leaders who fight to protect economic growth, not politicians like Andrew who would blindly vote for higher costs.”
Assemblywoman Michele Matsikoudis added, “We are working everyday to fix NJ Transit, which unfortunately has a reputation for poor reliability, but the solution is not to tax our businesses just to throw more money at the problem. Andrew Macurdy is out of touch with our district’s needs, ignoring both families and job creators. We will continue standing for responsible leadership that strengthens our economy, protects commuters, and keeps New Jersey competitive. This law does the opposite.”
Both Assemblywomen have met with NJ Transit officials in towns like Dunellen, Garwood, and New Providence in recent weeks, advocating directly to the agency for capital and infrastructure improvements.
Nancy Muñoz has been representing the residents of District 21 since her first election in 2009. She is currently the highest ranking Republican woman in Trenton, where she serves as the Budget Officer and as the ranking member of the Health Committee. Michele Matsikoudis was elected to the Assembly in 2021. Michele currently serves on the Commerce, Economic Development and Agriculture, and Education Committees, and as the Assistant Minority Conference Leader. Prior to her election to the Assembly, she served as Councilwoman in New Providence.
