2025 ElectionsBerkeley Heights Town CouncilCandidate Statement

My name is Michael Kaminsky, and I’m honored to run for a seat on the Berkeley Heights Town Council. I’m not a career politician. I’m a husband, father, small business owner, and doctor who cares deeply about the future of our town. I am running because I believe Berkeley Heights deserves leadership grounded in integrity, accountability, and common sense.

I’ve lived in Berkeley Heights since 2018 with my amazing wife and our two energetic toddler boys. Like many families here, we were drawn to this community because of its welcoming spirit, excellent schools, and strong sense of togetherness. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand both the strengths and challenges our town faces; from infrastructure and flooding concerns to the need for fiscal discipline and transparency in how decisions are made.

Professionally, I’m a podiatrist and the proud owner of my own medical practice. Running a small business has taught me invaluable lessons about responsibility, budgeting, and the importance of earning trust every single day. I understand what it takes to make tough choices, manage resources wisely, and deliver results. These are the same principles I’ll bring to Town Council to ensure that taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and effectively, always with residents’ best interests in mind.

I believe in fiscal responsibility, limited but effective government, and the rule of law. Above all, I believe local government should be about service; listening to the people it represents and working together to solve real problems. I’m committed to bringing more transparency and accountability to town operations, improving communication with residents, and making sure that local government decisions are driven by data, fairness, and common sense and not politics or personal agendas.

Our town faces real issues that require steady, practical leadership. Flooding, infrastructure maintenance, and responsible development are not partisan problems but community problems. I want to focus on long-term solutions that protect our homes, maintain our quality of life, and keep Berkeley Heights the kind of town we’re proud to call home.

I’ll work hard every day to represent the interests of all residents, uphold proper conduct in public service, and ensure that local government remains transparent, accountable, and focused on what truly matters: the people of Berkeley Heights.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible community, and I look forward to earning your trust and your vote. Together, we can keep Berkeley Heights strong, vibrant, and grounded in the values that make it such a special place to live and raise a family.
