Last week we published our 7-Municipality comparison of per-household cost in connection to Township and City Budgets using the 2024 ACFR. This week, we continue building on our coverage with an introductory budget analysis of the same seven communities we covered in our review last week.
Sparks continue to fly in the strange world of Berkeley Heights politics starting with a candidate statement from George DeLuna on how the County RMC Machine pushed him out of the primary.
We move to our coverage of the Berkeley Heights Town Council Agenda and a meeting that saw the Mayor, Town Administrator and former Recreation Commissioner on the hot seat about a new paid position over a project that’s had more name changes than the Atlanta Braves and more controversy than a Jerry Springer / Ricki Lake Mash-Up.
On a positive note BHPSNJ provided us with the full detailed preliminary budget.
We move on to Summit’s Common Council Meeting, where they’re leaning hard on those parking rates to meet revenue demand. Not as exciting as Berkeley Heights – but hey, the Puppy Parks sound cool.
Scotch Plains got dinged this week on some big transparency holes they thankfully patched up after our reporting.
Lastly, nj21st was a partner in the April 9th Local News Day festivities, and we used it as an opportunity to showcase some of our bigger stories from 2021, 2022 and 2023.
