Councilwoman Poage asked about the library liaison position during the most recent BOE Meeting.

The Board President and Superintendent did not appear to provide a clear answer.

The law requires the Superintendent to attend library board meetings and allows the Superintendent to designate someone to attend them –it is not a required position.

Under the previous Superintendent, a central office position was appointed and paid $1000 to fulfill this role.

Based on our review of the minutes, the prior Superintendent did not provide any updates to the Board of Education in any forum in 2023 and has yet to receive one this year.

The Board of Education voted not to approve this position, and it would make sense as there didn’t appear to be any need for or benefit from the position in the past year and a half.
