Recreation Commission Silence Fuels Frustration in Turf Field Discussion

A new email shows just how tense things have gotten as school officials try to get clarity from Town Officials on the Turf Field
After NJ21st published our report on what appeared to be an official communication — sent from a private email account — to the Board of Education about the ongoing turf field saga, we asked for an update. Board member Sai Bhargavi responded:
Hi Laura,
We are still trying to obtain answers and documents from the Berkeley Heights recreation commission, however they have been silent since their initial email. Liza (the Township Administrator) expressed being upset that I shared the update with the community, which I was surprised about given how much effort they put into their very public campaign last year. I ran through the basics of how the public has the right to know and it’s my right responsibility as an elected official to share this information with the local press outlet.
Margaret responded by asking that only elected officials participate in the conversation that the Commissioner (not elected) started, and she also indicated that she does not share her opinions or thoughts on emails .
So no real meaningful update as of yet. I and others are trying to get through the strange smoke screen and have Berkeley Heights recreation chair Debra actually answer the questions some of us had on the email she sent from her private account Tuesday.
Note: These are my thoughts and opinions as an individual and do not represent the opinion of the Berkeley Heights Board of Education.
Best regards,
Sai Bhargavi
