John’s Notes on the rest of the 11/20/2025 BHPSNJ BOE Meeting Agenda

BOE Agendas and Meeting Summaries

Laura will be providing an update on the updated referendum questions later in the day as some of the language has changed- but maybe not in the way residents might think.

Until then, If you want to catch up on the referendum you can visit our hub.

So….outside the Referendum – other important items show up.

The first is the appointment of an interim principal to cover the vacancy at GL from December through January with a permanent Principal starting in late January.

There is also some welcome news on the academic front- two new high school courses for the 2026–27 school year are up for approval: Multivariable Calculus and The Reflective Studio: Art & Self Expression, an upper-level arts course. These additions apprear as efforts to broaden offerings at the high school level.

The Board is also going to take on a host of policy changes for first reading – although I could have sworn that a couple of these were discussed during prior meetings but I also lose my keys every morning.

Committees (0155) have been a bone of contention since independent BOE Representatives started occupying seats as almost every effort from the County Appointed Superintendent to past administrations have done everything to lock them out of committees. This most recent year independent reps put their foot down and refused to approve the County appointed President’s appointments and were able to work out a compromise.

Complaints (9130) was another item (I think) we flagged as we felt the first time this came up it made the process for those filing a complaint onerous.

Grading (2624) seems promising and maybe a hint that the Administration and the BOE are ready to step in and actually start fixing some of the fundamental issues connected to proficiency – indirect and somewhat superficial yet maybe an important precedent. We’ll see.
