NJGPA Hits Another Snag as Some Students May Need to Retake Portions of the Test

Education

We have gotten reports that various schools throughout the 21st have experienced a glitch that may require students to re-take portions of the NJGPA.

The NJGPA is a graduation readiness exam given to NJ students during their junior year and seeks to assess proficiency in Math and ELA.

This week students and educators informed NJ21st that students were unable to scroll to prior areas of the assessment after hitting the pause button. We’ve also received reports that calls to NJ DOE personnel surrounding this issue have not yet been returned in at least one District. Affected students may very well have two options based on information received from our sources:

-Retake the portion(s) of the test that were affected

-Submit the test as is

Earlier this week, NJ21st reported on the shift to Adaptive Testing pointing to concerns that the State and it’s contractors did not create or maintain any records that explained how tests were calculated, checked for accuracy or compared to prior tests.

The transition to adaptive testing carries an estimated 58 Million dollar price tag.
