John’s (really brief) Notes on Tonight’s New Providence Town Council Agenda

New ProvidenceTown Council Agenda and Meeting Summary

Since it’s budget season, there’s a lot on our plates so I’m going to make this one short and sweet.

Here’s what’s on the agenda and potential red flags…

The bill list comes in at just over $3.83M but I couldn’t find the bill list in the packet to back this up.

There’s a $26,218 partial payment to Current Elevator Technology for the Barabash Manor replacement elevator but the link to the back up is broken.

Temporary appropriations from $542,258 to $727,258 (group health insurance, fire vehicle repairs, supplies/equipment and court professional services) another big number ahead of budget approval.

Summer/Seasonal pay rates for ’26 Community Activities are as follows ..supervisors @ $32/hour, camp administrator @ $35/hour, baseball/STEAM instructors up to $50/hour and counselors @ $16.25 – $18.25/hour.

Contracts going to to Sonny Electric, Inc. and Foggia Trinity Electric for on-call electrical -good through March 31, 2027-I couldn’t find the rate sheets.

$32,750 to Mazzucco Masonry for Down Town paver work.

Passaic River de-snagging gets $5k which will go to Armstrong, Inc

Application for $50k grant from T-Mobile’s for courtroom/council sound system – just an application at this point, not an award.

Most of this is placed on the consent agenda which we don’t love because it often reduces public visibility and creates ‘package pressure’.

There’s also a great letter from a resident asking that the lawyer speak into the Microphone (correspondence – top of the agenda- linked below).  This is a excellent catch – during a public meetings everything needs to be on mic and there shouldn’t be any off-mic sidebars either.
